JOB TITLE: Bartender – Part Time (<30 hours/week)  
FLSA:    non-exempt

Purpose of job

Bartenders are the keepers of the Live Oak Taproom & Biergarten experience. Our hospitality toward guests, keeping the facility spic & span, and proven understanding of Live Oak’s beers create lifelong Live Oak beer fans. Beer service is only one part of a bartender’s job at Live Oak. You are a representative of the Live Oak brand and our commitment to excellence in everything we do.

On a daily basis, bartenders handle transactions for beverage purchases at the Taproom. Bartenders are also responsible for basic cleaning and operations of the bar area. Bartenders report to the Taproom Manager and may work in coordination with other departments as required for taproom functions and events.

Job duties

  • Tend bar, fill customers’ orders and answer questions about our beer and the brewery (70%)
  • Cash handling and transaction management (15%)
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment (5%)
  • Open and/or close the taproom safely and securely before and after daily service (10%)

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Minimum qualifications

  • Completed TABC Seller/Server certification (
  • 21 years of age or more
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience in service industry a plus


  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Interest in and familiarity with brewing and beer history
  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management systems
  • Ability to learn apps and online resources for various functions

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand and walk for 8+ hours
  • Able to squat or kneel periodically
  • Able to lift and lower 50lbs repeatedly
  • Able to navigate stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Able to climb ladders and function in high places
